Curator Pippa Oldfield joins Place and Being / La curadora Pippa Oldfield se integra a Lugar y Ser

We are very pleased to announce that Curator Pippa Oldfield has joined Place and Being as a collaborator. 

Pippa Oldfield is Senior Programme Manager at Impressions Gallery, Bradford, one of the UK’s leading independent venues for photography, where she curates exhibitions, edits publications and organises a programme of touring shows. She curated the exhibition The Factory of Dreams: Inside Mexico’s Soap Operas (2005), and co-curated Once More, With Feeling: Recent Photography From Colombia (2007), both of which were accompanied by publications and toured nationally. Recent published writing includes ‘Tessa Bunney: Hand to Mouth’ for Portfolio magazine and ‘Passing Strange: Familial Impostors in the work of Trish Morrissey’ for Front, the latest publication from Impressions Gallery. 

She has been a nominator for the Northern Arts Prize, and is an invited member of the Latin American Visual Arts Network. She is an invited reviewer at numerous national and international photography festivals, including Fotofest in Houston, Texas, and has given lectures and talks at a number of universities and arts organisations including University of Hertfordshire, Swansea Metropolitan University, Open Eye Gallery and The Photographers’ Gallery. 

Pippa gained a BA (Hons) Fine Art from Falmouth School of Art and an MA in the Photographic Image at Durham University. She is currently a Doctoral Fellow at Durham University, undertaking PhD research into the relationship between women, war and photography in the Americas.

Pippa Oldfield es Directora de Programación en la Galería Impressions, Bradford, una de las principales sedes independientes en el Reino Unido para la fotografía donde se dedica a la curaduría de exposiciones, a la edición de publicaciones y a la organización de programa de actividades itinerantes. Asimismo, ha sido curadora de la exposición The Factory of Dreams: Inside Mexico’s Soap Operas (2005) y co-curadora de  Once More, With Feeling: Recent Photography From Colombia (2007), exposición que estuvo acompañada de una publicacion y fue presentada a nivel nacional. Algunas de sus publicaciones mas recientes incluyen  "Tessa Bunney: Hand to Mouth para la revista Portfolio y Passing Strange: Familial Impostors in the work of Trish Morrissey para Front, la cual es la publición mas reciente  de la Galería Impressions. 

Ha sido invitada como jurado para el Premio Northern Arts y es miembro invitado del Latin American Visual Arts Network. Asimismo, ha participado como revisora de portfolios en numerosos festivales nacionales e internacionales tales como al Houston Fotofest en Texas, Estados Unidos y es miembro invitado de la Red Latinoamericana de Artes Visuales; ha tomado parte en conferencias y dado charlas en varias universidades y organizaciones de arte, incluyendo la Hertfordshire University, Swansea Metropolitan University, Open Eye Gallery y The Photographers Gallery. 

Pippa concluyó sus estudios universitarios en Artes Visuales en Falmouth School of Art y una Maestría en Imagen Fotográfica en Durham University. Actualmente es Becaria Doctoral en dicha universidad, donde  realiza  una investigación referente a la relación de la mujer, la guerra y la fotografía en las Americas.
